OVERVIEW
The Department of Community Health Nursing functions with the belief that every individual student should know how to approach , identify problems and implement family based nursing services in the community with effective communication. Extensive practical experiences are provided to the students in the adopted rural and urban community. Student are posted in the Sub centres of Sree Gokulam Medical College & Research Foundation at Kallara & Attingal and also posted in Government CHC, PHC and Subcentres.
Observation visits are arranged for students to have an awareness regarding the functioning and activities of various institutions like Kerala State AIDS Control Society, State TB cell, Sewage Treatment Plant, Water Purification plant etc.

Department Activities:
The Community Health Nursing Department organizes various activities like school health programmes, health surveys, Workshops, Health Camps and take part in implementation of various health programmes like pulse polio immunization programme
ACTIVITIES ON 2021
International Women’s Day: MARCH 2021
International Women’s Day was observed on March 8th every year. This year the theme was “Choose to Challange”. It is the day to spread awareness among the people regarding women’s right and gender equality. This day celebrated the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women, also encourage the women. During the COVID Pandemic situation Department of Community Health Nursing and OBG department , SGNC observed the day as a Virtual means by creating one movitational and one theme based vedio along with IV year Bsc Nursing students. Movitational vedio include the famous women who achieve success in various fields.And theme based vedio basically focus on support and solidarity for women by raising up their hands with purple, green and white background colours. Purple signifies justice and diginity green symbolizes hope and white represent purity. A Challenged world is an alert world , and from challenge comes change . There is no limit for women to accomplish their goal and acheivement.
