OVERVIEW
The Department of Child Health Nursing aims to maintain excellence in pediatric nursing practice, education and research. The department believes in fostering a comprehensive, collaborative, interdisciplinary relationship-based approach to nursing care through the delivery of compassionate, culturally sensitive and family-centered care. It also aims to achieve excellence in patient outcomes through continuous performance improvement using evidence-based practice and research.
The department provides training to undergraduate and postgraduate students to cater to the needs of children of all age groups, from birth to adolescence incorporating modern approaches to child care. It provides good teaching- learning experiences to the students to enable them to function as educators, managers and researchers in the field of child health nursing.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
The department of child health nursing is conductiong various extension activities in a year which include newborn week celebration, O.R.S week celebrations, workshops, poster competitions quiz competitions etc.

ORS WEEK ON 29.7.19:
The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Sreedevi, professor, Department of Paediatrics. Dr Swapna and faculties in Child Health Nursing,SGNC, OPD staffs, parents and children who came to OPD were attended the programme.Dr Sreedevi was given a very informative speech on role of parents on prevention of diarrohea in children.

OSCE REPORT
An objective structured clinical examination (OSCE)is an integral part of the pre practical examination, which allow the students to understand the key factors for improving an effective nursing care. OSCE was conducted for IIIrd year BSc nursing students(70)on June 26th and July 5th and 9th.
The whole batch was divided into three groups, each group consist of 23 examinees and it was conducted at Paediatric lab. Five stations were arranged that the student has to attend by rotation. Each station has three or more procedure or task to perform and the student can choose by lot. Each procedure has to be complete in a fixed time, usually by 10-15 minutes.
